What is Deconstruction?
Originated by philosopher Jacques Derrida, deconstruction is an approach to understanding the relationship between text and meaning. What is fascinating about deconstruction is that you can easily get readings of any texts that runs counter to the intended meaning or structural unity of a particular text.
Same can be applied to image, and that is the basic idea of our software OnePhotoCollage.
Extract an Element
What we are looking to achieve is out of the apparent unity of an image.. landscape, nature, portrait architecture… extract elements and put them in conflict with shapes to reveal a new thought or meaning. Of course thru a collage of multiple photo you can bring new perspectives. But in order to simplify the process and get a more powerful message, we only work with a single image.
Breaking it apart or deconstructing then collaging it back thru various shapes.. we construct a new meaning.
